It’s great to meet you! Thanks for joining me on my journey as a professional caregiver, as a family caregiver and as a menopausal woman who’s probably going a little bit crazy!
This world can be rough- Politics, illness, the cost of living, not enough employees. Everything is changing so quickly. Technology, school….it is a brave new world.
And I’m sure you’re a bit like me. I’ve just hit menopause. I help my parents in their 80s. I help my 49 year old brother who has down syndrome. My children are having children so I am a grandma! My adult children who didn’t wanna talk to me because they were so busy with their lives want me around a lot. I am happy to see them as long as they have the babies and kids with them! And, I run a business and provide case management services to people with brain injuries and cognitive disabilities.
One of my friends was asked if I collect anything or have a hobby. She told me she thought about and said, “She collects people.” I love people. The more challenging the better!
“Love them through it” is a philosophy I embrace. Sometimes this world is a scary place. We all need a soft place to land when we are hit with illness, aging, unexpected events, catastrophic events or even just mean people who crush your soul. We all need to not stay stuck in the soft place. We have to move forward, not back.
Fair warning- I have a twisted sense of humor. I laugh a lot. I smile a lot. I am always happy to get something off a shelf if asked in a grocery store.
